About Miha

Miha believes health and wellness happens from the inside out.  She has always been fascinated by the human body through dance and sports.  At a young age, Miha feels grateful to have experienced the gifts of spirit and self-awareness through her connection with the divine, God or the universe if you will.  She knew with clarity early on that she wanted to help people through her work.  She is a licensed acupuncture physician and physical therapist with over 20 years of experience treating people living with acute and chronic pain.  As a graduate with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, she has treated a wide range of people through the years in numerous rehabilitation facilities including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and Rusk Rehabilitation Center in New York City.  In her work, Miha has treated people with medical conditions and diseases, some including acute spinal cord injuries, post-operative medical and orthopedic surgeries, post-stroke and traumatic brain injury, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, various cancers, back pain, neck pain, and injuries related to sports and performance.  She has also treated people suffering from headaches, depression, anxiety, and insomnia.  Through experience, knowledge and intuition, Miha learned quickly that treating only on the physical level, outcomes were sometimes limited.

With a strong background in traditional manual therapy techniques and in an effort to integrate her experience, to optimize the health and well being of her patients, she began the practice of Zero Balancing (ZB) in 2008.   ZB allows for the focus of treatment to go deeper beyond the physical.  Miha experienced the subtle yet powerful benefits of conscious touch.  In addition to functional exercises and manual therapies, it’s power to allow change was a gift to many of her physical therapy clients.  Studying intensively with Dr. Fritz Smith, M.D., the founder of ZB, who she continues to study with on a regular basis, she feels privileged having been certified under the care of the founder.  ZB is a unique modality that integrates structural integrity with energy reorganization.

One of the roots of ZB arose from the tradition of Five Element Acupuncture.  It was only natural for Miha’s curious nature to continue on this deep understanding of the integration of the physical body with the energetic body.  Miha is a board certified NCCAOM diplomate of Oriental Medicine, with a focus on Classical Five Element Acupuncture.  She is a graduate of the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture with a Master of Acupuncture in Gainesville Florida.  She is grateful to be under the continuous tutelage of Dr. Lee Zeitlin, local Acupuncture Physician and student of J.R. Worsley.  Most recently, she is a student in the TCM Diploma program with Mazin Al-Khafaji, an international pioneer in Chinese Herbal Medicine specializing in dermatology and autoimmune disease.

Miha is passionate in giving others the gift of wellness in body, mind, and spirit, moving toward wholeness, and ultimately manifesting life as one’s virtuous self naturally.  She believes that the potential for wellness is already in each individual, living in the cycles of nature and the interdependent relationships of the five elements all around and within ourselves.  She also believes that lifestyle management, proper nutrition, Chinese herbal medicine, and or nutraceutical supplementation can be key ingredients to enhance the healing and health within us.  Miha is certified in dry needling and acupuncture injection therapy using homeopathic remedies and nutraceuticals which is well known to speed the process of healing when necessary.  Through preventative care, disease can be avoided and quality of life optimized.  Compassion, authenticity, and listening to her patients is paramount in facilitating trust and healing in her practice.

Miha has a deep desire to share her knowledge, experience, and educate the community about the many options for health, wellness, and personal growth on many levels.  She has a personal understanding of the difficulties when faced with limitations in functional activity or performance that can be affected with injury, pain, or illness.  She recognizes the effects of imbalance on work and personal life.  She knows that caregivers and healthcare professionals are especially vulnerable to imbalance due to the demands of providing care in the western system of health.  She holds a sweet space in her heart for the geriatric population who have given her the gifts of wisdom, shared stories, and joy in the midst of aging through the many years of practice.  So many of her clients have been her best teachers especially through life transitions.  Miha is a member of her local gym, has been a practicing yogi for decades, enjoys meditation, biking in nature, playing tennis, skiing, long boarding, and surfing at the beach.  She has traveled the world and the country dancing the Argentine tango.  Miha values individual personalized care to manifest balance not only within the self, but also to foster creativity, freedom, personal growth, reconciliation, and community reintegration.

Are you able to cure arthritic pain?

    • Mr. Jaffe,
Thank you for your question. I am able to treat arthritic pain. I have seen hundreds of patients with arthritis. I am looking forward to seeing you! I am guessing you are referring to osteoarthritis, the most common type. Rheumatoid arthritis is more complicated and treatable as this type is systemic and an autoimmune issue. Pain with osteoarthritis is a structural and energetic issue with inflammation which also includes lifestyle (diet and exercise). With 100% compliance, I can help with the various modalities that I am trained in! Chinese herbal medicine and or nutraceuticals is also an additional support that can speed your healing. I hope this answer is helpful for the time being and we will talk more when I see you in the office.
      Warm regards,
      Miha
